Single-pour screed project

Underfloor heating case study

Products: AluPlas® pipe and AluPlates™

Our Technical Sales Advisers like an unusual challenge – and supplying underfloor heating to a traditional oast house was a new one, even for them!

The converted oast house had different floor constructions on the ground and first floor – and our customer wanted underfloor heating throughout. It also needed to be run by a renewable heat pump. Like most old buildings, the oast house struggled with high heat loss, which was another challenge for us to overcome.

Advice

Our customer opted to use a traditional single-pour screed method (also known as “insulation under slab”). This approach isn’t used very often these days, as there are now more efficient methods available. However, this didn’t stop us from designing and supplying the right system for their project and meeting our customer’s requirements.

The first floor used our AluPlate™ fit-from-above system, creating a minimal increase in floor height – perfect for this renovation project. It will also keep the upstairs nice and warm.

Our customer opted for our latest range of smart thermostats, with app-control functionality. They’ll have full control over their heating system from the palm of their hand, no matter where they are in the world.

We work with our customers to ensure they have everything they need for their underfloor heating system, no compromises. Solving heating solutions is what we do.
